FINAL FISHING FIGURES FOR 2005 SEA CUCUMBER SEASON
On the 18th August 2005, just as Resolution No. 001-2005 of the Interinstitutuional Authority for the Management of the Galapagos Marine Reserve (AIM) and Resolutions No. 0045 and 0047 of the Directors of the Galapagos National Park were established, the 2005 sea cucumber fishing season ended. This left a margin of 5 days to market those sea cucumbers which had already been caught.
The number set down by the AIM for the capture of sea cucumbers this year was 3 million units during 60 days (from 20th June to 18th August). However, the fishermen only managed to catch 1,390,683 sea cucumbers, which represented just 45% of the established quota.

Any fresh sea cucumbers that are recovered by the Park Rangers are returned to the sea.
The total number of sea cucumbers exported from Santa Cruz, San Cristobal and Isabela was 1,377,801.
