120 CHILDREN BENEFIT FROM THE "EXPLORING OPUNTIA" SUMMER COURSE

Charles Darwin Foundation

The "Exploring Opuntia" summer course is run by the Charles Darwin Foundation to provide activities for children in San Cristobal so that, during their holiday, they can learn about their natural environment through play. This year the course opened 10 days ago and already 120 children have been registered. The children will attend dance and art workshops, sports and courses on cultural identity and environmental education. As part of the course they will visit parts of San Cristobal they may never have been to before to see the animals in their own habitat.

Eight year old Roger Ricaurte says "I have learnt about plants and animals that I had never heard of in my life. I have lots more friends and I hope that when it gets hot I will meet them all again on the beach."

These courses are run by our local partner - the Charles Darwin Foundation. To help support their community work please click here.
