THE MINISTER OF ENVIRONMENT BANS SPORT FISHING IN GALAPAGOS
Following on a number of unauthorised sport fishing events in the Galápagos Marine Reserve, especially those that took place in February, the Minister of Environment, Juan Carlos Camacho, has prohibited all recreational and sport fishing until the necessary regulations have been put in place. Steps are being taken to sanction the boats that broke the Special Law for Galápagos. Patrols of the Marine Reserve will be maintained with the support of the Navy.
