Thank you to everyone who entered this year's annual competition for Tortoise Club for Schools and Junior Members.
As you will remember, the purpose of the competition was to design a conservation poster which promotes the protection of the giant Galapagos tortoises and also the need to conserve their unique and important habitat.
In all we received 130 entries. The standard of entries was extremely high once again this year and the choice very difficult. After hours of judging, the staff at the Galapagos Conservation Trust office in London finally reached a decision.
And I can now announce that the winner of Galapagos Conservation Trust's 2007 annual competition for Tortoise Club for Schools, Junior and Galapagos school members is Rebecca Walters from St. Antony's Leweston Preparatory School.
Congratulations Rebecca.
Rebecca has won a bundle of prizes which includes an autographed copy of the book 'Aesop's Funky Fables', a tortoise cartoon print, one year's free junior membership and publication of her winning entry in the next junior newsletter as well as on our website.
In addition, I am pleased to announce that second place was awarded to Adam Fowler of Milking Bank Primary School and third place to Sydney Wood of Deighton Gates Primary School. Both second and third place winners will receive a Kosen tortoise and a packet of Galapagos playing cards. Well done to you both.
