  Tortoise Club Galapagos Giant Tortoise

Welcome - or as Lonesome George might say when his friends visit him - Bienvenido!

Thank you for continuing your membership of the Galapagos Conservation Trust's Tortoise Club.

The Galapagos Islands are, as you have already learned, unique - this means that there are no other islands in the world like the Galapagos. We must all help to keep the Galapagos plants, animals and birds safe from pollution and other creatures which could harm them.

By continuing to be a member of the Tortoise Club you, your classmates and your school are all playing a very important part in the conservation of the Galapagos Islands. But even more importantly it means that you, the conservationist of the future, have got the chance to learn more about the Galapagos Islands, the unique animals and plants found there and how they can be protected. The future of these Islands is in our hands.

HOW ABOUT TRYING THIS ...
Why not read Roald Dahl's 'Esio Trot' to your class? The story of Esio Trot (or tortoise spelled backwards) is all about Mr. Hoppy's love for his neighbour, Mrs. Silver. But Mrs. Silver only has eyes for Alfie, her pet tortoise. Mr. Hoppy thinks of a plan to win Mrs. Silver's affections.
